of all the addictions known to man
knowledge is the most bloodthirsty.
hoarded and harvested in dusty libraries -
incubated in silence, then hunted
by hungry souls, who suckle it until
it is withered, and dry, and their bellies ache
yet it is never enough
for the longer it is pursued, the more
the truth seems nothing more than a wisp of smoke
twirling and dissolving on the breeze
like a bitter salt in the mouth.
